ILYA ZORKIN

ABOUT

The academic program is focused on bringing you to a level where you can paint from your imagination and compose your own large-scale paintings on any subject and of any complexity. Isn’t that called freedom? —Ilya Zorkin

Superb draughtsman and a well-rounded intellectual, Ilya Zorkin is an artist worthy of the old masters whose secrets he studied relentlessly.

Like them, he loves working in situ, rain or shine, creating symbolic and atmospheric landscapes, like them he loves creating impressive historical paintings and multi-figure compositions with numerous readings.

Ilya is one of the rare graduates from the prestigious St.Petersburg Art Academy who has been awarded a gold medal by the Russian Academy of Arts: this way of celebrating the merits of the outstanding artists continues the pre-revolutionary traditions of the Imperial Academy of Arts.

Aivazovsky, Bryullov, Repin and other prominent Russian painters who defined the classical school of painting of the 19th century have all received this award in the past.
